I stepped onto the bridge connecting the surrounding lands of Midgar to the city. I could see the lights of Sector 8 up ahead. I had just gotten back from Niblehiem, taken away from Tifa for my stupid job. I didn't even know why I was still in SOLDIER, I didn't like having to kill people just because I was ordered to. I shook my head, but kept on walking, even though my heart was trying to tell me different. I made it into the town square, where the giant water fountain had been built. I nodded in greeting to a few of the Infantry Men I passed, the friends I had while Zack was still alive. The lady at the entrance of Shinra Co. waved to me with a flirty smile, but I just nodded to her, as I did to everybody. I could see a slightly disappointed look in her eyes, but I ignored it.
"Welcome back, Cloud." Director Lazard said once I entered the conference room.
"Why did you send for me?" I asked, getting right to the point. I was a little upset that I had to leave Tifa for some damn mission.
"Sephiroth has been sighted around Sector 5. I want you to go right away, no exceptions." Lazard said shortly.
"Will I get to go back--" I started, but was stopped shortly when Lazard started talking again.
"You cannot go back to Niblehiem, you need to find Sephiroth before he destroys the world." he said, causing me to frown deeply. I didn't say a word, I just left. You could probably tell I was frustrated from the way I slammed all the doors I closed and my footsteps were a lot heavier than usual. I made my way out of the building, not caring about anything except for the fact that Lazard was a big bastard. I tried to clear my mind, knowing if my mind was full of thoughts, other than battle, Sephiroth would kill me in two seconds. I smiled faintly as I ran my hand over the glossy, black surface of my motorcycle, Fenrir. Yeah, I did suffer from motion sickness, but it had gotten better when I thought my life was Zack's. It didn't really bother me anymore, I actually found a little joy in riding Fenrir when I could. I swung my leg over Fenrir and it was soon revved up and ready to go. I floored it, jolting off towards Sector 5.
I skidded Fenrir to a stop when I reached the point where Lazard told me Sephiroth had been spotted. I looked around with a small smirk. This place was such a dump, no way would Sephiroth be hanging out here. I rolled my eyes and was about to rev Fenrir up again when I heard a dark chuckle. I froze and spun around on Fenrir in the direction I heard the laugh.
"Well, well. I didn't think you were going to make it." he said and I heard the flapping of wings and then a muted thud on the balcony above me.
"Sephiroth." I partially growled as my mortal enemy had announced his presence.
"Good to see you too Cloud. I have a little surprise for you that I know you'll be dying to see." Sephiroth said and chuckled again.
"What do you want from me." I said and narrowed my eyes as Sephiroth took a few steps back into the shadows of the night.
"I'm sure you're going to recognize her?" he asked, and when he stepped out of the darkness, he was holding a girl with long, dark hair with fell to her waist. Her skin seemed very pale in the limited light here and a gag was over her mouth to keep her from calling out to me.
"Tifa!" I said and reached a hand out towards her. Tifa's eyes were wide with fear and were staring right at me. "Let her go!" I shouted, with as much venom in my voice as I could muster.
"I knew she was special to you. If you let me go without a fight and without Lazard knowing I was here, I may even let her live." Sephiroth said with one of his dark smiles.
"You either give her to me, or you're going to be sorry!" I shouted again and jumped off of Fenrir.
"Then I pity you, or you shall lose such a beauty." Sephiroth said and unsheathe his very long sword. Tifa's eyes widened even more and let out a small squeal that sounded like she was trying to call my name.
"No!" I called out and quickly climbed up the ladder leading to the balcony where Sephiroth was standing. I heard him chuckle darkly, knowing he loved to cause pain and anger. I made up to the balcony and took my sword off from my back. "Touch her with that sword, and I swear that I will kill you." I said, my voice serious and my eyes narrowed. Sephiroth threw Tifa to the side, almost causing her to fall off of the balcony, and put his sword in between the two of us.
"I want you to beg for forgiveness." he said and sneered.
"No, you'll be the one begging!" I yelled and charged at Sephiroth.
This is part I of a few pieces of a Cloud and Tifa story! I was really bored and I've been working on this for almost 4 hours now... Probably more. Well, I was thinking of Cloud and Tifa and a scene popped into my head, which ended up developing into a story. I haven't gotten to the part yet, but I'm hoping that I will be able to get that far if these stories are liked enough...
